People who said the feeling love creates is a wonderful thing were one thing. Liars. They obviously never experienced the downfalls - the utter despair it could cause someone to feel. Love was an emotion that was capable of destroying your own world, and leaving nothing but an empty husk to rot away.

Levi knew what he was. He knew his position, and the weight his name carried. He didn't consider himself to be a fool until he met you. It was silly of him to think this newfound emotion he gained would be anything good. Tender touches, geniuine smiles, it was all a waft of fresh air to him. He didn't know what to expect when he was around you.

It was as if he was a moth attracted to the beaming light. You brightened the darkness that consumed his world, in fact, he'd dare to say you didn't even know it. You were just doing your job, after all. Being a servant who gave their heart to their king. But not in the way Levi wished.

As the citizen's grew restless, enemies more relentless, and higher class oppressive - Levi found himself in quite the position. It was his birth right to command the people he ruled over, to be the flawless everyone looked to in times like these. Where children scraped by, parents mourned from the loss of their jobs, and when the greedy became even greedier than before.

Levi was exhausted. He wanted, no, desperately found himself clutching onto a mere string that held the remains of himself. He couldn't do this anymore. It was all too much. He'd lost himself again, wandering around in the darkness. His world looked hopeless - the sun ceased to exist for him. The emptiness comparable to a black hole would replace where his heart was.

"Hey. It'll be alright if you try, so please, be strong for all of us."

You knew what he needed to hear. Even if it wasn't what he wanted to hear, it was what he needed regardless. You couldn't read him, but if you could hear his inner thoughts, you would know his scoff was just a facade. He ingrained every single word that fell from your lips into his soul, and repeated it to himself in the moments where he had nothing.

Isn't it odd that when you have all the riches in the world, luxury, wine, beautiful women... none of that can stop tears from falling? Instead, it was the people you truly cared about in your heart that would rush to your side, not the ones who simply held shallow conversation.

You were the one that ran to his aid when he was in tears, you where the person that would listen when everyone else simply turned away. It was you who kept Levi's head above water. His cornerstone. The wives that would do anything for a mere touch were never the ones that came to his side. Even if it may have been your job to play a role in his life - he appreciated you dealing with his sour attitude nonetheless.

But, how was it Levi was to translate this to his people, who asked him why he hadn't married yet?

Levi found himself frequently staring down at a ring. Many thoughts would always go on through his mind, most of them being shot down almost immediately. The ring was simple, nothing elegant. With the streams of moonlight that beamed into Levi's masterful room, Levi almost found his lips quirking up at the thought of this item on your finger.

'Ah, fuck. I need to stop these thoughts. Worthless in the end, all of them.'

Levi hid the ring away when you came in to say goodnight to him, tucking him in as if he was a child. Many in the palace thought that your company of him even at an older age was rather odd, but they wouldn't dare to speak a word of it to Levi's intimidating gaze. When you nodded your head and left the routine exchange between you both, Levi almost spoke up. But he wouldn't know what to say, after all, he never did.

What would it take for him to work the courage up and say three simple words?
Sort of a drabble thingy? Not much of a plot, but I think you get the gist of it. It seems as if I haven't lost all my Levi feels. Anyways, I'm too tired to make a good description. Happy New Year to you guys!

I would like to dedicate this fic to the wonderful :iconkatsuhana: who is the Queen of Everything, no exceptions. I'm so glad that I've gotten the chance to talk with you more, you're such a beautiful and strong person who I look up to. And your pun game just seriously blows me away. Sorry this kinda sucks, it's like almost 1 am and I really wanted to write something for you.

Oh, and before you comment, I'd appreciate it if you read this: Things You Probably Shouldn't Comment because that way we can avoid any awful comments, right?

I don't own you, or Attack on Titan characters.
